So.  Um.  Here I am with the urge to write, and Word open in front of me, and... nothing.  Nothing's coming out.  I'm imaginatively constipated.  All blocked up.  Straining and nothing's happening and so on.

The problem with this story is that I started writing it with no idea of plot.  Okay, not unusual there, I often do this.  However, usually a plot line develops somehow as I go along, and whilst I have some ideas for this one, things just aren't coming together.  

Thus I look to the helpful citizens of TC to guide me in my ways.  Mmm, I just had an idea.  Anyway...


Help!  What is the necromancer's story?  Why has he sent him to help Dan?  Any ideas?  I just need a plot enema.  Sorry, enough with the toilet jokes.  They're all crap anyway.     And I'm not even drunk yet!

K, I feel in the mood for this story for some reason, so the next chapter is underway.  Should be up later tonight or tomorrow with luck.

“Who the fuck are you?” Dan asked. 

The newcomer was all shadow, even darker than the senior vampire who’d been about to do him in.  A pale face was just about visible within a recessed hood.  The rest of the figure was wrapped in a voluptuous cloak of tatty black material. 

“You!” Dmitri snarled, raising his knife. 

“Hello Dmitri, long time no see.” The character waved a robed hand and the knife the vampire had been holding was batted from his grip by some unseen force.  “Isn’t it past your bedtime?” The same arm gestured at the rising sun.

Dmitri swung around, snarling like a rabid dog, fangs bared, and Dan thought his time had come.  Instead, his maker stabbed out with one long, pale finger.

“We’re not done boy.” With that parting line Dmitri leaped upwards, sailing over Dan and landing on the roof of a parked car.  With a blur he jumped off the vehicle and ran off down the street, vanishing into the shadows that were retreating before the rising sun.

“Thanks,” Dan said, edging closer towards the building. 

“Your time has not yet come,” his rescuer hissed. 

“Lovely.” Dan glanced at the encroaching dawn.  “So, I don’t mean to be rude or anything, it’s past my bedtime too.”

“Not so fast young one.” Another gesture, and suddenly Dan was frozen to the spot, unable to move his body.  He could only watch as both the sunlight and the dark figure crept slowly closer.

“What do you want?  Who are you?” he gasped, desperately trying to break free of the invisible bonds.

“I have an interest in you,” the stranger said. “I sent you your friend to help you survive, and what do you do?  You get into the middle of a fight with human agents and Dmitri’s clan.  What were you thinking?”  The last words were in a tone so cold that they seemed to come straight from the crypt.

“I… I had no choice,” stammered Dan back.  The rising sun crept closer and he whimpered slightly.

“I will not tolerate excuses,” the man said.  “You are to remain in the land of the living, even if you are not living yourself anymore.  Should you fail, I shall bring you back and spend the rest of eternity making you suffer.  Do you understand?”  The sleeve swept forward, and Dan was poked with the boniest, whitest looking finger he’d ever seen.

“Y… yes sir.”

“You are not yet ready to fulfill the prophecy, and I have no wish to wait another thousand years if you fail.  Remember what I said.  Die, and you shall regret it.”

With that, the robed stranger slid backwards in a gait so smooth he may well have been floating.  With a final gesture, he disappeared into a narrow alleyway, leaving Dan frozen to the spot.

“Hey!  Haven’t you forgotten something?” Dan almost broke out into a sweat as the sunlight crept slowly up to his position.  “Let me move fuck you!”  He redoubled his efforts as the dreaded daylight reached his foot, the rays warming his appendage and sending a wave of pain up his leg.

“Fuck!” With one final, desperate effort, he managed to pull himself free, falling over his own feet as movement returned. 

“Bastard!” he panted, staggering to his feet.   With one last glance around he fled, leaving the daylight to the living.

Don woke up with a moan.  He moaned again, for effect, and put his hands on over his face as he lay in bed and considered the disaster that was the previous morning. 

“That was a good moan, almost sounded like a zombie.”

Opening his eyes, Dan saw his undead friend sitting on a chair parked in front of the door, arms crossed in stoic fashion.

“What time is it?” he asked, swinging his legs out of the lumpy bed. 

“Shouldn’t you sleep in a coffin or something?” Frank asked.

“Shouldn’t you be lurching around in graveyards eating people’s brains?” he countered.

“I could if I wanted.”

“Well, I could sleep in a coffin if I wanted.  There’s probably a special deal for vampires.”  Dan stumbled over the bathroom and splashed himself down with water.  “What time is it?” he repeated.

“Just after sundown.  You’re an early riser.  Or late, depending.”

“What happened to you last ni… morning?” asked Dan.  “I lost you in the chaos.”

“Well, after you met my boss I…”

“Wait!” Dan held a hand up.  “Mr. Robes was your boss?  The Necromancer?”

“Who did you think it was?”

Shrugging, Dan toweled himself off.  “Didn’t get that far.” A memory crept back and he did another zombie moan.  “A prophecy?  What fucking prophecy?  Why does everything bad happen to me?”

“I think you’re being a little self centered here,” his friend said, pointing at the stitching around his neck.  “At least you can have a beer without it dribbling out of holes in your throat.”

“I’m just a two bit crook, a petty criminal,” Dan went on, wallowing in self pity and ignoring his zombie friend.  “I don’t want to be some cunt’s prophecy bitch.”

“I don’t think we have any choice in the matter.”

“Fuckers, that’s all I’m saying.  They’re all fuckers.  You’d think that once you’re dead you could relax a bit, do you know what I mean?  Rest in Peace and all that?  I may as well be alive and working for the Man.”

“Talking of which, you had a couple of visitors last night.” The zombie stood up and picked a couple of business cards of the table near the door. 

“You didn’t let them in did you?”

“I’m dead, not stupid.  These were slid under the door.” Frank passed the cards over to Dan.   One was from the police.  Detective Morgan.  Dan frowned, and then remembered the cop that had come knocking after his encounter with Snake.  He turned it over.  On the other side ‘call me’ was written in spidery handwriting.

The other card was just a blank card, blood red. 

“Shit,” he said.  “I know this one.  It’s the Bloods.”

“The gang?  What do they want with you?”

“I may have killed a couple of them a few days ago.”

“So what?  The world is better off then.” Frank shrugged. 

“They must have found out who I am.  This can’t be good.”

“Maybe you should move.  You have more money now don’t you?”

Sighing, Dan slumped back down on his bed.  “How did this become so complicated?” he asked.  “Dmitri, Rudac, Department Seventeen, the Bloods, the cops; how come I collected so many enemies in such a short time?”

“They’re not all enemies.  You work for Rudac now.  Maybe she can get the Bloods off your back for you.”

“I’d rather know about this prophecy of yours.”

“Not mine, the Necromancer’s.”

“Either way, I think it’s about time I started going on the offensive.”

“What are you going to do?” The zombie eyed him warily.

Okay, a loose Suggestion Phase here then, made more difficult by the story that’s not been updated in some time.  Here are some of the players (I must admit, I’ve lost track a bit too).

Dmitri: Dan’s powerful Vampire ‘father’.  Currently out for Dan’s blood.

Rudac: Boss of the local PG officer.  Current ‘employer’ of Dan.  May have a hidden agenda.

Snake: A thug Dan owes money too.  Came around once, but was interrupted.  Bound to return with more goons.

The Bloods: A large gang with access to weapons.

Department Seventeen: (Dept of the Supernormal).  Out to get Dmitri, as well as other undead etc.  Probably still licking their wounds from the fight with Dmitri’s crew.

The Necromancer: A shadowy figure, seems to be on Dan’s side.  Raised zombie Frank to help Dan.  Seems to believe Dan is someone who will fulfill a prophecy.

Detective Morgan: Investigating the death of several Bloods that may or may not have been killed by Dan.

Loving this story!  Before I make any suggestions though I'd like to see if your done with story for now, or if your going to continue.

I'm wondering about more backstory with Dimitri's daughter.  Perhaps we find out she's tired of being an immortal stuck in the body of a six year old.  I'm not suggesting she turn on her father.  I'm thinking after having time to speak with our hero he develops a soft spot for the wee lass.  Even better, perhaps our zombie and the girl find their situations not altogether different and they form a bond.  Maybe he kidnaps her from her kidnappers in an attempt to provide her with a life resembling normal.  Who know, she may also be apart of the prophesy.

As far as the prophesy goes, I'm thinking after Dimitri's daughter is kidnapped again, our undead duo are pretty much on the run from everyone.  Surviving will be far more difficult with only one ally.

I like TNS' point of view of the story. China if you can read a vampire story and write one, could you not possibily suggest me a story to write that'll make you read it, I'm trying to go for a Sherrilyn kenyon look to it, with a script style, so that the paranormal and Uber characters look normal enough, just like "Fantasy Lover".... And qoute from the story, "If I find a man worthy enough to shave my legs for"
