  • I don't know if any of you guys have been following this story, but Jonny Havron, 18, has been missing from York since Feb 26th, and today police recovered a body they believe to be his a body was recovered from a river basin in the city, believed to be his but yet to be formally identified.

Jonny has been one of the original members of the Literary Den writer's group since August 2007 and was a contributor to the Lit Den anthology 2008.

I only knew him from the Lit. Den, but I know he was a talented writer and his loss will be felt greatly in the Den.

  • ...I feel comfortable enough on this forum to admit it.

Whenever I hear of something like this, I can only think to say "Well, bugger." So I rarely respond, but needless to say I...well...well I can't put what I want to here elsewise I wouldn't have this problem.

  • Phang: Well, it is really kind of a 'Well Bugger' occasion, isn't it?

I didn't post this because I'm all cut up over his death, or because I'm looking for lots of people to say 'aww, how sad'. I wasn't his friend, I didn't know him outside the forum and I'm not going to claim I did.

I posted this because he was an active, long-term member on a forum similar to this and because... well, it's news that I thought I should share with you because he was a young writer like most of us.

This whole thing has me unsettled.

  • We are but the flames of candles, passing by at a moment's notice with the wind.  When we're reminded of this, be it by the death of someone we knew well or someone we were acquainted with, we are almost always unsettled.  The feeling will pass.
