Ok, this is a new story for me. Still in the work-in-progress stages, so updates on this may be slower then some of my others.

However i still need feedback on it, it is going to be different then what i usually write, in later chapters you should see why.
I'll leave it to you know,
Read and reply your thoughts, i'll take all into good measure and try to improve on it.
rofl hope it grips you  rofl

    --x--

She hides behind her long hair, hoping that the world will change the next time she looks and breathes the tainted air she grew up in. She hates it here, she always has, yet she can’t escape. She knows if she does they’ll find her and bring her back to reality. But is it reality? Where she can’t even open her eyes without crying out in pain because she’s so scared to ring and phone for help?.

She walks alone, no ones behind her except her broken conscience and confidence that fell to pieces over 15 years ago. How is she still alive? One person knows. But she doesn’t understand, that person is me.

I'm writing her story, one she can't tell because her memories are so hard to bring up. Maybe someday she'll realise this is the right thing to do.
Maybe this way she can move on and not live in the past.

These are the words she'll never say.

'   Did I have a choice? Were my intentions that bad to come to this? Surely I'd made a mistake somewhere along the line, looming over him now that was all that spread in my mind. The fact that I couldn't escape the here and now even if a train ran into me at full speed.
Yes, the violence is real, but I can't break away from it. It's suffocating, deadly and strange.
And yet, here I am standing where mistakes were right in front of my eyes. Where there was no returning from, and no saviour to rely on.'

    Chapter 10 – Offensive/Defensive?

  •    Kara immediately gave up the struggle to be freed, she knew it was hopeless anyway. Elaine, and her clones were slowly getting closer but although she wanted to escape she wanted to prove that she wasn't even more of a freak show. After all, didn't everyone out of this 'group' know she had that  cut on her nose?
Students who were walking past stopped to stare at the scene but knew better then to stick around. It was only when Elaine finally reached them that they realised what was going on and practically diverted going home out of that gate.
“Think you could escape?” Elaine snarled. She smirked at Charlie and Marcos then nodded to Will, Kara thought he'd loosen his grip but he instead tightened it. Almost admitting defeat, Kara hung her head with a quiet sigh and waited. The worst thing was she didn't know what to expect.
“If you're going to hit her, hit me instead.” Marcos snarled, Kara bit her lip quietly and said nothing. There was nothing she could say to change his mind. She knew what was going to happen next, but she just wasn't sure on what order.

“You honestly think I can deny you that small bit of fun from your life? Seeing Kara get hit over and over without you being able to help?” Elaine laughed,
“She's weak, if you do anything to her she'll just collapse! Just leave her alone!” Charlie cried desperately,
“You really think we care what happens to her?” Will laughed,
       “Maybe you should!” Marcos growled,
“Why? She's not exactly the bravest person here, and she's definitely not the most important.” Elaine retorted,
“You don't know her,” Charlie whispered,
“What was that 'Princess'?” Will said smugly, tightening his grip on Kara once more straight after. Everyone heard her lightly squeal with pain but no one tried to help her.
“Just leave her alone, leave them both alone. If you're going to hit them, hit me instead. I can take it more then them!” Marcos cried out desperately,
“However much we love your voice Marcos, it's time for you to shut up.” Elaine snapped, “With your current attitude there is no doubt in my mind that we'll be making all three of you pay, the question now is, what order?”
“I asked you a question 'Princess', what did you say?” Will ordered to Charlie,
“I didn't say anything,” She lied,
“Don't lie to me, it really isn't a smart idea.”
“I'm not lying! I swear I'm not, I-” Charlie stopped. She could see the anger in Will's eyes and shivered, Marcos then turned to Will. Having the impact and amount of eyes he wanted watching, he proudly let go of Kara and pushed her so roughly onto the floor her trousers ripped as she landed.

Marcos roared in anger, at the same time Will pushed his way through to Charlie and with the same amount of force managed to repeat his actions. Charlie screamed as she fell, rolling a few times before coming to a halt by a brick wall.
“You really shouldn't have done that,” Marcos warned, “You really really shouldn't have.”
“Too late,” Will smirked. “It seems Kara's already given up the fight,” he continued as he looked to Kara's practically limp body. She hadn't moved from where she'd landed, and it was this that was starting to get Marcos and Charlie worried. “Have you?” He turned to Charlie.
       “Leave her alone.” Marcos ordered,
“I haven't even started yet,” Elaine coldly smiled, “It's time you all learnt some respect.”
“We haven't even done anything!” Charlie cried, “Why are you getting back at us?”
“Why not? It's fun seeing all of you like this,” Elaine smirked. This, only made Charlie try to fight back even more, at least try to stand up. It didn't take long for her to realise that her leg was cut, and badly at that. Although she didn't notice the stinging before hand,
       “Sadist!” Marcos shouted.
“What did you just say?” Will stormed over, Marcos gave Charlie a warning look but Will stood in his way just after. Charlie immediately took the hint, she just had to wait for everyone's eyes to turn to Marcos and Will.
“Why?” Marcos snapped back, “I doubt you even know what it means anyway.”

Kara bit her lip painfully and just waited, tears were fast falling from her eyes but she couldn't let anyone else see, it was a sign of weakness after all. She knew Marcos's plan all too well, she could feel Charlie getting close to her and all the eyes of Elaine's gang slowly watching Marcos and Will. The only problem was she could do nothing to help, except-
-No, they'd notice if Will's arms suddenly became held in mid air like Elaine's arm had. She just had to wait, but for how long?

Charlie looked up once more to see everyone's eyes on Marcos, the reason why was clear when she realised. In the matter of seconds it took her to glimpse up, Will had punched him clear in the face. The result, Marcos had a nosebleed but he couldn't do anything to stop it because he was still being restrained.
She took her chance and carefully edged the last few steps towards Kara, she felt her jump slightly but just put her arm on Kara's right shoulder. It was their way of saying they were equal, but to anyone else it meant nothing.
“Come on, try to get up, please!” Charlie whispered urgently. She looked up to see Marcos looking straight through Will, looking blankly at him received another punch in the face. This time, he cried out in pain, which was enough to bring Kara to her senses and slowly uncurl.
Charlie helped her, but in those few seconds Elaine turned back to watch Charlie and grabbed Kara by her hair.
“Leave her alone!” Marcos shouted. Charlie saw the end result of this and her trying to pry Elaine's hands off soon after, only Marcos saw what happened though. No one else was watching them, they all seemed to just be stuck to whatever Will was going to do next.

Kara's eyes overwhelmed with tears as pain shot through her back, but although it almost killed her, she managed to hold back the scream.
       “Leave Kara alone!” Charlie exclaimed.
“Why? Do you want a kick in the back too?” Will smirked.
“I thought you had more fun when the guy was scared, this-this is just sick!” Marcos growled.
“If you don't watch it you'll get what's coming to you.” Will warned.
“Will, maybe we should leave it.” Elaine said quietly. She was staring at Kara's limp body on the ground,
“Please, she can't take much more. The fight's between Kara and Elaine, if she's this weak already the fight is ov-” Macos began. Shortly after he cried out as Will stormed over and punched him squarely in the jaw.
“Didn't I warn you to shut up already?” He growled.
“Didn't I tell you over and over that I can take whatever you want to throw at Kara and Charlie and use me as the punching bag instead?”
“Maybe I'd prefer to throw whatever at all three of you.”
“You don't have the right.” Marcos muttered.
“I didn't quite hear you then, repeat yourself.” Will said.
       “No.” Marcos said clearer.
“It wasn't a question. Why won't you tell us all what you just said?”
“For starters you don't have the right to dish out all this shit and expect us to just sit back and take it.”
       “Continue.” Will looked intrigued.
“Secondly if you have a grudge on Charlie and Kara, do you realise how weak it makes you look if you hit them when they can't defend themselves?” Marcos continued.
Will turned to Elaine and nodded, she shook her head lightly and sighed. Walking over to Charlie, Elaine saw Kara move her right hand. The blood she saw surprisingly gave her doubts ad she pinned Charlie's arms behind her back once more.
The other guys crowded around Marcos like he was juicy meat and they were blood thirsty creatures. The outcome didn't look good.
“Please Elaine, have a heart! Let me go!” Charlie whispered urgently to Elaine. Biting her lip slightly, the bully whispered back,
“When I say go, you go. You don't look back, you don't help Marcos or Kara. You'll get hurt too.”
All Charlie could do was hold her breath, she wasn't sure if she should watch Marcos or not. In the end she looked away, just as Kara had to.

Kara heard the punches and kicks breaking Marcos's skin with dull thuds. Again and again she held back the urge not to cry out and stop Marcos and the others hurting her closest friends.
She hated not being able to help, but with the large newly opened cut on her leg there was no way she could even stand up.
Probably the thing that surprised both Kara and Charlie was the fact that Marcos didn't make a sound of any sort. At the same time it's what scared them the most.
Kara heard Elaine whisper something, then footsteps quickly going off into the distance.
“Charlie's gone.” Elaine whispered to Kara. She jumped slightly but made no sound, she knew if she did the others would hurt her and probably Elaine for letting Charlie escape. The question running through her mind right now was simple, 'Do I actually care?'

Minutes passed, slow elongated seconds ticked by one after the other. It was down to Kara quickly losing consciousness that all record of time seemed to slip her by. Endless, never ending repeating seconds.
Kara mentally begged for them to stop, for something to make them leave.
    Surely-

-Everyone jumped as thunder struck near to where they all were.
“Will, I'm off.” One of the gang pulled away.
“Me too.” Four more said one after another.
“Whoever else wants to go, go home.” Will growled still looking at Marcos lying on the floor.
Happily, what was left of Elaine's friends who followed her out left. Most crept away when they saw what was about to happen. Only Elaine, Will, Stacy, Kara and Marcos stayed behind.
“What are you planning now?” Elaine asked,
“I don't even care right now.” Will replied.

It was only now that Kara could faintly hear the sirens, police? Ambulance? It was hard to tell with all the cars nearer to her revving their engines. In an instant, time seemed to slow down. Will had a change of heart about what he was doing, Kara held her breath, Marcos held his and Stacy and Elaine looked to each other. Without further warning, both Will and Stacy fled. Even now Kara doubted if Elaine's kind act would last now that her boyfriend was gone, as strange as that sounded Kara knew it was just her playing along. Although she was grateful that Will had disappeared.
“We need to get you out of he-” Elaine began.
       “Help Marcos.” Kara said weakly.
       “I need to help you!”
“No. Just get Marcos away. He needs the help more then me.” Kara said firmly to Elaine. She stood up painfully but managed to keep her balance, “Help him!”
“Ok, I'll help him.” Elaine muttered.

Walking over to Marcos, Elaine bit her lip. She was only ten paces away from him, but even as she knelt down beside him she couldn't see if he was bleeding or not.
Just then Kara's phone started to vibrate in her pocket, painfully she slid it out and answered watching Elaine and Marcos carefully.
       “Hello?”
“Kara, thank god you're ok.” Charlie rushed. “I called the police and ambulance, I saw some of the guys running back to school talking about 'finishing the job'. Get out of there now, you don't have much time.”
Kara held her breath as she watched Elaine gently shake Marcos, a small painful groan escaped his lips and he turned over.
“Can you get up?” Kara asked.
“I doubt it, they hit my legs so many times I lost count.” Marcos replied.
“Well I'll just leave you to it, I said to my mum I wouldn't be late coming home.” Elaine stood up.
“You're going?”  Kara froze. “You're supposed to be helping.”
“Why on earth did you get that impression from? I hate you. I always have, and nothing in your little world can make me change my mind.” Elaine growled.
       “You're just a coward.”
“I don't really care what you think of me. It's time I left you to fend for yourselves.” Elaine grinned.
And with one final backward glance, showing off her perfect teeth, she was gone.

Kara sighed, it was now only her and Marcos.
“They're coming, go over to Marcos now.” The familiar voice whispered. Kara felt by her left ear but her hands didn't come into contact with any form, the invisible guy was once again going to help her.
Painfully, Kara walked over to her best friend and immediately saw he was unconscious. Tears freely fell from her eyes once more, and even now she gave no sign that she would ever wipe them away.
“Get up, please get up.” She whispered.
“He won't wake up on time, you know that as well as I do. Just stay quiet, don't say a thing. What ever you do, do not move.” The voice said firmly.
Sighing, Kara bit her lip and nodded lightly. Shouts and heavy footsteps were coming towards them. Without any warning, Kara felt something cold touch her left arm. The coldness then spread throughout her whole body, cloaking her in a cold invisible blanket. Now draped in it, and shivering, Kara found it hard to keep still.
       “Shh. They're coming.”
“Tell me one thing before.” Kara shivered.
“Fine. One.” The voice gave in.
       “What's your name?”
“Scar. My name is Scar.” He replied.
“That's not your real name.” Kara whispered.
“It's all I can give right now.” Scar muttered.
“Come on! They're right over here.” Stacy called out. A few of Will's gang laughed, but they all stopped when they came to where they had been just a few moments before.
       “You lied.” Nick growled.
“No! They were here!” Stacy cried out.
"I know they were here, I was here remember? Where are they now?" Nick growled once more.
“I don't-” Kara began to whisper.
“You're invisible. Now quiet!” Scar whispered right into Kara's right ear. She was about to say 'I don't feel too good.', she'd guessed that they couldn't see her already.
'Just hurry up and go. I don't want to die here.' Kara screamed out in her mind,
'You won't die here.' She heard echo in response. Startled, she tried to place where the voice was coming from, or at least if it was male or female.
'Are you part of my consciousness?' Kara asked.
'Far from it. My name's Zara, I'm here to help you.' The now recognisable female voice said. 'First lets get these guys away from you.'
Without another word, lightening struck, this time nearer to where Kara and the others were.
“I'm not hanging around long enough to get hit you know, this is a death threat right here.” Nick laughed.
       “But-” Stacy tried to argue.
“We're going. I'm not staying out when it's like this.” Nick growled.
“Fine!” Stacy snapped. “Leave. It's not like they're here anyway, nor is Elaine come to that.”
“So we're going?” Nick sighed with relief.
       “Yes. We're -” Stacy began.
Kara never got to hear the rest of what she said though, she never heard the other sighs of relief coming from the other people that followed Nick and Stacy. And heard them walking away, she was unconscious.

Scar tightened his grip on her shoulder though, protecting her and Marcos just in case they all came back.
“Where are you?” A girl called out. Footsteps came closer to where Scar hid Marcos and Kara but he stayed silent. The girl repeated herself, “Where are you? Kara I know you're here somewhere.”
Biting his lip, Scar spoke out. Having perfect timing, he saw the girl come into view.
She wasn't anything like he expected though, with dark brown, black and navy hair, her hair colour wasn't anything that Scar had ever seen before. It came to just above her shoulders, and suited her dark blue eyes perfectly. Contrasting her hair was her school uniform, which consisted of a white shirt, black skirt, red blazer and red and black chequered tie. However, her shoes were no school shoes but black and pink trainers.
Slung carelessly over her left shoulder was her black school bag. Most of the material was covered with badges and band patches that hardly any of it could actually be seen anyway. Oddly, the look suited her all the same.
“How do you know her?” Scar said.
“I'm a friend of hers,” the girl replied. “I knew she was in trouble so I came.”
“How do I know you're her friend or not?”
“I've known Kara for years, I know what the bullies are like. And now I want to help her, there has to be something I can do. Just tell me.”
“Phone for an ambulance, she's fallen unconscious.” Scar said firmly. Biting her lip, Zara nodded and took her phone out of her blazer pocket. Dialling the three digits seemed odd to her, no one she'd known had never been that seriously injured before, and now it was her that had to make the phone call.
